Situation:
Misuse of mobile devices Solution:
We all agreed as a group that the device has a place in the modern classroom but there are certainly some ground rules. No texting, facebooking etc. I will let my students use their devices for web searches, powerpoint and aircraft manual usage. In the hanger or shop floor I have a strict no phone policy due to the nature of the work involved. Human Factors are a real issue in the aviation industry and phone use on the job is one of them. You might miss a step in the procedure of the work you are doing which could possibly lead to an incident. Aviation needs less incidents not more. Inquiry Project Critiques:
Heather and Kim
How To Make Cheese
I like how Heather and Kim went to Facebook and put out a query on cheese making, then got numerous responses.
Would have been nice if they had brought a cheese making kit for us to see.
Excellent presentation
Emile
Emile needs to project his voice better, very hard to hear
I was interested to learn that Manitoba is known for mushroom farms
Adam
Nice slideshow with prezzi
I think Adam missed the point on that he was to learn something that he wasn't familiar with.
Terry and Blair
Great presentation, I like how they portrayed the journey
We may have witnessed mixology history in the making
Michelle L.
Very upbeat and entertaining presentation
Michelle seemed to really enjoy her learning journey.
Leila
Good voice projection and good pronunciation with her thick accent
Spending too much time on the why of her journey
Michelle H.
I like the all original picture approach
It does sound like she had a fun learning journey
Frank and Albert
The gents seemed to really enjoy their journey
They seem to have gotten a little more focused on what they learned rather than how they learned nearing the end of their presentation
Natalia
Natalia did a good job of narrowing down her topic.
She seemed a little nervous
Bruce
This type of learning journey journey is right up my alley.
I didn't have the same problem as Bruce as in the troubles with Google Presentation.
Alan
Entertaining presentation, Alan obviously enjoyed his journey
Unfortunately the end result wasn't what he was hoping for
Mike F.
Mike is honest and very animated physically.
Seems that the prezzi was just thrown together quickly.
Jeff
Funny that he uses the yellow pages, whenever I ask for one people make fun of me.
I really enjoyed Jeff's wrap up. Well done and entertaining.
Assignment #7 - Individual Presentation

Kim:
1. Very energetic at 0830 after a very busy week. Good for her.
2. I'm not sure how this is improving her student learning for her different LCAs, but I may have just missed that as I am not very energetic this morning. She was a little quiet.
Adam:
1. Very thorough presentation
2. Was a little off topic at the beginning and now I feel like an arse for thinking that Adam had prior knowledge of BIM.
Michelle H.:
1. Excellent voice projection and very well spoken. PowerPoint looked good.
2. Slides are a little wordy.

1. Good voice projection, upbeat and easy to listen to.
2. Could explain more in depth on how the student will be evaluated. Michelle probably needed just a little more time to tie up some lose ends, but good presentation overall.

2. A little quiet during the presentation,

Alan:
1. Nice clear vocal presentation, nice looking slide show
2. Maybe a short lesson on coding would have been good??
Jeff:
1. Jeff seems a little old school so it's nice to see him willing to put to use some of the student centered approaches in his classroom.
2. Slideshow seems a little thrown together and I'm not sure what his outcomes are. Oh wait, now I see them.
